Da var festivalen over for i år og vi vil gi en stooor takk til alle som var en del av den! En stor takk til alle frivillige og sponsorene som hjalp til. Det hadde ikke vært en festival uten dere! Tusen takk til alle gjester og foredragsholdere som tok seg tiden til å komme til vår lille festival og holdt flotte foredrag. Takk til alle som tok seg turen innom for å komme og se! Now that this year’s festival is over we want to give a biiiig thank you to everyone who was a part of it! A big thank you to all the volunteers and sponsors that helped out. Our festivals official moderator this year is
He’s a dutch freelance animation, music, theater- and lifestyle- journalist He works as an Europa correspondent for the amarican Animation Magazine, He also the founder of Animation News on the web and an expert on international animation industry, specially Korean. He writes for National Newspaper AD and have earlier been contributor for many dutch magazines and jornals. Schavemaker is also the presenter for KX Radio and Radio Veronica 192.
The second ex-student we invited to have a small presentation of herself is
having graduated from Høgskulen i Volda in 2008, is now an Animation director and Illustrator based in London, UK. Her animated short film “Shoe” has been widely selected in International animation/film festivals; it has won The Best Student Film at Bradford Animation Festival 2008 and won the MX Business Award at Tokyo Anime Fair 2010. She has recently directed a series of TV Commercials “Only the lonely”(Client: Volvo) with production company Rumble in London.
Qian Shi, som uteksamerte seg fra Høgskulen I Volda I 2008, er nå en animasjons regissør og illustratør basert I London. Hennes animerte kortfilm «shoe» har blitt valgt ut i flere internasjonale animasjons film festivaler; Den har vunnet Beste studentfilm i Bradford Animation Festival 2008 og den har vunnet MC Business Award i Tokyo Anime Fair 2010. Hun har også nylig regissert en serie for en TV reklame “Only the lonely”(klient: Volvo) med produksjons kompaniet Rumble in London.
We invited two ex-student from the animation department here in Volda University College. And the first one is
Carl F. Corneil is a 27-year old from Trøndelag, Norway. He completed his bachelor in Animation at Volda College University in 2009 and have since mainly worked at Qvisten in Oslo, with movies, series, short films and commercials. He’s also technical responsible for the Frame by Frame-seminars, that are arranged every year in Oslo.
Carl F. Corneil er en trøndersk 27-åring, som fullførte bachelor på animasjonslinja i Volda i 2009, siden har han hovedsakelig jobbet hos Qvisten i Oslo, med film, serier, kortfilmer og reklamer. Han er også teknisk ansvarlig for Frame by Frame-seminaret, som arrangeres hver vår i Oslo.

to our little festival. To all of you that are interested in Japanese animation here’s a great lecture for you! Ilan Nguyen is a lecturer at Tokyo University of the Arts, where he works in the Animation department. He’s an expert on Japanese manga and an experienced speaker. He has given many lectures about the Japanese animation industry. He will talk mainly about Tokyo University of the Arts program and orientations, but will also talk a little about Japanese animation in general.
The next guest that will be in the student jury this year is
She is a comic artist, illustrator and storyboard artist, with background in advertisement. She has an animation degree from Volda University College. She has been working as an animator and storyboard artist for “Gurin med reverompa” and “Kaptein Sabeltann”. She’s drawing the series “Snorre – Verdens Sinteset Mann”. She will be in the student jury this year.

She was awarded her MA in Computer Animation from C.N.B.D.I., France. She has industry experience as an in-game and full motion video animator for Sony Computer Entertainment Europe and specialises in digital animation.Kate’s published works include festival screenings of Trickbox at the Kino Festival in 1995 and WWF-One World at the Bradford Animation Festival in 2007. Magazine publications include articles in Imagine and 3D World magazine on behalf of WAK Studios. Kate has secured funding from Screen Yorkshire and The Arts Council Lottery Fund for short film production. She’s a part of this years pro jury.
Another guest that will be joining us at this years festival is
she’s a director, animator and partner for Mikrofilm, where she works with short films and commercials. She’s also an earlier student at Volda University College. The clients she has been working with at Mikrofilm are Kirkens SOS, 1881 and the Norwegian Labour Party. At her lecture she’ll be talking about her work and about the studio Mikrofilm.

One of the guests who’ll be in the pro jury this year is
He’s a screenwriter and Professor of Film at Boston University. His film A Scent of Paradise (starring Penelope Cruz) has won a number of international prizes. The film Snovi, a finalist in the Student Academy is based on his story “Dreams.” Two new scripts: Adele, an erotic thriller, and Shattered Faith, a psychological thriller, are presently in pre-production in Finland and Estonia.
Another guest who’ll be joining us for the festival is
He started his animation studies in England. Now he’s a freelance CGI animator, traditional 2D animation and storyboard artist living in Norway. He’s been working with Qvisten Animation and Filmkameratene with feature animation films as “Kurt Blir Grusom” and “Elias og Jakten på havets gull”. He has also worked with TV-shows like “Blekkulf”. Join his lecture and hear more about his work.
